THEATRE WORK

Peter has contributed much to the development of the Community Theatre movement in Australia for which he received the Sidney Meyer Award for ‘Excellence in the Arts’ - 1985.

He has run three successful Theatre companies:
* The Dukes Playhouse - Lancaster UK, (five years);
* The Century Theatre - UK, (three years);
* The Playbox - Melbourne, (two years).

Peter has been Associate Director of the Mermaid Theatre, London (three years), and the Liverpool Playhouse, UK (three years); as well as Directing freelance in London, Paris, Melbourne and Tokyo. Directing well over two hundred plays. He now works internationally as a Theatre Director.

1998         Directed ‘The Country Wife’ - Lyric Hammersmith, London
1997         Script Editor of Westend Musical ‘Starstruck’
1997         RADA/Kings College, Shakespeare Workshops
1997-96    Productions at RADA, London; and Nihon University, Japan
1994-90    Freelance directing: ‘Murder In The Cathedral’, Liverpool 
                  and Manchester Cathedrals; and "A Man For All Seasons’,
                  Liverpool Cathedral
1990-88    Associate Director, Liverpool Playhouse
1988          Directed and devised project for Melbourne Festival
1988-86     Freelance work including productions at the Royal Court, 
                  London, Birmingham Rep and the Young Vic, London
1975-70    Founding Director for Duke’s Playhouse, Lancaster
1967         Artistic Director, Century Theatre, Lancaster
1965         Associate Director to Sir Bernard Miles,
                 Mermaid Theatre
